How would you describe yourself in a few sentences?

I’m a storyteller through photography, passionate about capturing genuine moments that reveal the beauty of everyday life. I focus on street scenes and portraits, always aiming to highlight authentic emotions and human connections. For me, every photo is an opportunity to share a unique story.

How did you first get into photography?

I first got into photography when I was young. My cousin was a photographer and used to bring me his analog camera. That experience sparked my interest and deepened my connection with the camera and photography itself.

What type(s) of photography do you specialise in, and why did you choose this niche?

I specialize in street photography with a strong documentary style. I’m passionate about capturing real, unfiltered moments and telling authentic stories through my images. This approach allows me to highlight genuine emotions and everyday life, revealing the deeper narratives behind people and their environments.

"Documentary photography helps me connect with subjects on a personal level and share meaningful stories that resonate."

Can you share the underlying themes or ideas that drive your photography?

The underlying themes that drive my photography are authenticity, human connection, and the beauty found in everyday life. I’m fascinated by how simple moments can reveal complex emotions and stories. Through my work, I aim to capture the raw, unfiltered reality of people and their environments, showing both their struggles and their joys.

"My photography is about preserving these fleeting moments that often go unnoticed but hold deep meaning."

What's the one achievement or moment in your photography career that you're most proud of?

One of the moments I’m most proud of in my photography career was winning a competition organised by the Czech Embassy. This recognition was an important milestone that validated my dedication and inspired me to keep growing as a photographer.

What's the biggest challenge you've faced as a photographer, and how did you overcome it? What did you learn from that experience?

I live in a small town near the capital of Morocco called Sidi Allal El Bahraoui, a town that lacks many resources. However, I chose to travel across Morocco with my camera to discover new cultures beyond the boundaries of my hometown. My town has been a great source of inspiration for me, especially in terms of the people and the stories it holds.

"The biggest challenge I faced was my fear of facing the outside world beyond my town, but I overcame it through traveling and photography."

If you could collaborate with anyone (a photographer, brand, or a creative), who would it be and why?

If I could collaborate with anyone, I would choose Steve McCurry because of his incredible ability to capture powerful human stories through his photography. His work inspires me to tell authentic stories that connect deeply with people across cultures. Collaborating with him would be a valuable opportunity to learn and grow as a documentary photographer.

How's the photography and art space in your country: how has it evolved in recent years?

The photography and art space in Morocco has been evolving, with more young creatives gaining visibility and sharing authentic narratives. Local photographers are blending traditional perspectives with modern approaches, ensuring that Moroccan stories reach wider audiences both at home and internationally.

If you could give one piece of advice to someone just starting their photography journey, what would it be?

My advice would be to always stay curious and keep practicing. Don’t be afraid to make mistakes, because each one is a valuable lesson that helps you improve.

"Focus on observing the world around you, and let your passion guide your creativity. Over time, your unique style will naturally develop."
