Fauziah Anyango is a Nairobi-based photographer whose work explores culture, identity and emotional tension through carefully composed images that feel instinctive and alive. Her practice moves between control and unpredictability, creating scenes that echo real life while heightening what is often overlooked.
She is drawn to the quiet theatre of human interaction: a pause before a touch, the distance between two bodies, and the subtle negotiations happening in posture, styling and space. What appears effortless in her photographs is often deeply considered, and she builds environments where feeling can surface naturally, even when everything within the frame has been intentionally placed.
Storytelling has shaped Anyango since childhood. She has always been fascinated by the stories that exist before they are spoken, and that instinct now guides how she constructs images, creating space for moments to unfold. Her practice sits between what is arranged and what escapes control, a space where, for her, something honest can appear.
Beyond photography, she is a multidisciplinary artist who draws and paints, makes short videos, is currently working on a film, and writes poems.
